Associate Professor of Geology Tamie Jovanelly will be highlighted in educational materials that will be sent to every K-12 school in the U.S. These materials include a video filmed on Berry’s campus about Jovanelly’s work in the field.

Earth Science Week (Oct. 8-14) is an international event that reaches 50 million people annually. It is dedicated to educating people about earth sciences and encouraging earth stewardship. The 2023 theme is “GeoScience Innovating for Earth and People” and will emphasize how geoscience innovations help people lead sustainable lives.

Jovanelly has received three prestigious Fulbright Research positions that allowed her to conduct integration investigations on water quality and consult on global issues relating to water allocation. In 2021, she was recognized as a Geological Society of America Fellow due to her contributions to geoscience.

In addition to her research, Jovanelly released her debut novel “Iceland: Tectonics, Volcanics, and Glacial Features” in 2020 and lends her expertise this fall for a new show on The Weather Channel’s “Earth Unlocked.”
