Trion senior, Brenden Tyler McHan received a full tuition scholarship for four years to the University of Alabama in Huntsville for merit by receiving the Charger Distinction Scholarship.
McHan’s major is computer science where he will continue on to cyber security. The criteria for receiving the scholarship was based off of his SAT score of 1420 and his GPA.
McHan was in marching band all four years at THS, serving as percussion captain his senior year and equipment master his 10th-12th grade years. He was a member of Mu Alpha Theta, Beta Club, Duke TIP Summer Studies at UGA and Academic letters.
He was the editor of Bulldog Barker and Trionian his 10th-11th grade years, certified in Computer Networking 11th (via dual enrollment), certified Computer Maintenance 12th (DE).
He began dual enrollment as a sophomore and continued through his senior year amassing 57 college credit hours.
The merit scholarship amounts to $21,000 per year. At Honors Night, he received one of four of the Jonathan Shore Memorial Band scholarships in the amount of $500.
He is the son of Jeremy and Michelle McHan.
