Willingham has had much success at Chattooga High School as a student athlete maintaining a 4.0 GPA. He was 4 year starter at 3rd base for the Indians and a middle of the order hitter that helped to earn him 1st team all Region 7AA. He was a gold glove winner for Chattooga Baseball his sophomore and junior year. In the 43 innings pitched as a junior he had 45 strikeouts and only 8 walks with a 2.60 earned run average.

Willingham was named to Perfect Game 2015 Honorable Mention All-American. Perfect Game USA is the world’s largest scouting service that is devoted to furthering the development and career of the talented high school baseball players.

Amos, who stands 6’4″ and weighs 210lbs easily caught the attention of college scouts playing for DoubleDay Rockies in summer ball.  His team was coached by pro scouts, Eric Robinson and Justin Goetz, and managed by Charles Culberson.

Culberson had this to say about Willingham, “Amos is a coach’s dream. He is very coachable player, respectful to his peers and adults. Amos always brings effort and willingness to the field every day. He is a team player and a great team mate. Any coach would love to have Amos on his team. He will only get better . He will make any team he plays for better and will always give them a chance to win.”

Willingham is excited about going to Snead State in the fall and hopes to continue to pitch and play multiple positions on the baseball diamond.

Amos is the son of Britt and Jan Willingham.
