Indians Start out on a High Note

The Indians basketball teams opened the season last night with a scrimmage against the Dalton Catamounts. Both games were a good gauge of how the boys and girls will do in the coming basketball season.

Principal Jeff Martin added in regards to playing in the new gym, “We are very proud and thankful for our new facility. We expect the atmosphere in our new gym to be amazing. Please come out and support our boys and girls. They have worked very hard in the off season. Also a special thanks to our pep band and student section for their support. We are looking forward to a great season. TRIBE PRIDE!!”

Head coach of the Lady Indians Brent Mobbs commented when asked how he feels about this season, “I think that we have a lot of things to look forward to and this game gave us a good gauge on how the girls will do and progress in this coming year. We are working on getting better every day.”
Jared Groce head coach of the boys varsity team, “it was great to see so much support from our fans at the scrimmage game last night. I am glad that we had the opportunity to scrimmage an intense team before the start of our season, which begins Tuesday with the Murray County Thanksgiving Tournament. Last night’s scrimmage made it clear that we have a lot of work to do. Four of last night’s five starters and seven out of our eleven varsity players were still on the football field a week ago, so missed shots and fatigue were expected. However, I truly feel that the team was not fully focused. We will be in the gym this weekend and will be practicing overtime in the next few weeks to get back to looking like the veteran team that we are.”basketball week 1 2
