Jacobs and McCloud Led Vikings to Senior Night Win, 96-72

Scoring a season-high 96 points, the Berry College men’s basketball team defeated Toccoa Falls College, 96-72, on Tuesday night. Seniors, Owen Jacobs and Lee McCloud were honored before the game as part of the senior night festivities. The win improved the Vikings to 9-12 overall. The loss dropped the Eagles to 8-13.

Scoring a season-high 96 points, the Berry College men’s basketball team defeated Toccoa Falls College, 96-72, on Tuesday night. Seniors, Owen Jacobs and Lee McCloud were honored before the game as part of the senior night festivities.

The win improved the Vikings to 9-12 overall. The loss dropped the Eagles to 8-13.

Jacobs and McCloud led the offensive effort in the win, scoring 17 and 18 points respectively.

McCloud was 6-of-10 from the field. He sank four 3-pointers, was 2-for-2 from the free throw line, passed seven assists and added three steals for the Vikes.

Jacobs was 7-for-11 shooting. He sank two three-pointers, passed five assists, had one steal and grabbed seven rebounds in the win as well.

Three other starters scored double-digit points in the win: Caleb Johnson, Alton McCloud and Blake Scherrman.

Johnson added 15 points, shooting 6-of-12 and sinking one three-pointer on the night. McCloud scored 14 points for BC. He was 7-of-9 from the field and collected a team-high nine rebounds. Scherrman rounded out the scoring with 13 points. Scherrman was 3-of-9 shooting, sank two-3-pointers and went 5-of-6 from the free throw line.

Berry maintained their lead throughout the game and was ahead, 52-26, at the half.

For TFC, Cam Williams and Connor Iverson scored 16 points apiece. Williams was 6-of-11 from the field and had a team-high three steals in the loss. Iverson was 4-of-7 shooting. He sank three three-pointers and was a perfect 5-for-5 from the free throw line.

Berry shot 57.8-percent (37-of-64) to Toccoa’s 44.6-percent (25-of-56). The Vikings also led the Eagles in rebounds (37-24), assists (19-15) and steals (9-6). Both teams had four blocks on the night, and TFC forced 16 BC turnovers to their 15.

The Vikings travel to Birmingham, Alabama, to take on Birmingham-Southern College in their next SAA game on Friday, February 12 at 9 p.m. ET.
