Deep in a playoff battle with Augusta, the Rome Braves took a seven game win streak into Thursday night’s game with Kannapolis, and it took extra innings to settle it.
Touki Toussaint got the start for Rome, giving up only one run on five hits in six innings. He struck out nine batters, and walked three. Jon Kennedy and Devan Watts each had two innings of scoreless relief.
It was not an impressive offensive night for Rome overall, but the bats came through when it mattered most, winning on a Ray-Patrick Didder RBI single, scoring Anfernee Seymour from third to win 2-1 in the bottom of the 10th. Kevin Josephina had Rome’s other RBI earlier in the game.
