Second Half comeback gives Chattooga Middle School Indians a big victory over the Pepperell Dragons.

With second place and a shot at the Championship Game hanging in the balance, the Chattooga Indians middle school squad took to the field at the Little Big Horn hosting a highly motivated Dragon team from Pepperell. With a speedy running back and high flying offense, the Dragons are capable of scoring quickly and scoring often. The Indians struck first with a burst around the corner from #4 Quintavious Knox who bolted 37 yards for a score and would be relied upon throughout the game to keep the pounding drives from the Chattooga offense alive. Knox has been the work horse for the Indians all season and was joined in this game with a standout performance from quarterback Jamarious Mosteller #12. Every time the Indians scored, the Dragons came back to match them. Clinging to a 14-13 lead with less than a minute to go, the Dragons got the ball back and scored in two plays including a long 57 yard pass. Taking to the locker rooms trailing 20-14, the Indians had to turn things around in the final half but it was the Dragons receiving the kick off and scoring again with their only break away run on the day. The 80 yard scamper and PAT put Pepperell ahead 28-14 just seconds into the 3rd quarter and could’ve broken the spirits of a lesser team. The Indians were down but never out. Chattooga’s defense led by #22 Baylor Wilson, #25 Luis Medina, #18 Quinton Perry and #52 Desmond Jones stepped up and decided that the Dragons would not see the endzone again. Late in the game, a leaping interception from Mosteller sealed that promise and, on the legs and arm of Mosteller, the offense continued their relentless pounding on the Dragon defense. Piling up the yards and the points, Mosteller led the Indians to 3 more scores and a 36-28 win. Mosteller had a season-high 3 rushing TD’s to lead the team. The final game against the Armuchee Indians will be just a formality as the victory over Pepperell guarantees the Indians a place in the Championship Game which will be a rematch against Cedartown and a chance for the Indians to avenge the sole blemish on their otherwise perfect record.
