The 2016 Greco-Roman and Freestyle State Tournament was held yesterday at Alexander High School in Douglasville. Several Chattooga County youth wrestlers participated in the event.
At 77 pounds in the Schoolboy Division Freestyle, Jackson Bond allowed only 3 points all day and defeated his opponent in the finals with a tech fall, 10-0. In Greco-Roman, Jackson didn’t allow a single point and won his championship match with a pin. The Freestyle and Greco championships gave Bond a sweep in 2016 State Titles giving him his fourth Triple Crown Title. A Triple Crown is earned by winning a State Title in all three wrestling styles in the same year. Bond claimed the Folkstyle Championship in March.
Younger brother, Jacob Bond, won the Greco-Roman title and finished 2nd in Freestyle, losing only one match on the day by just two points.
Ty Veatch, 128 Schoolboy Division, took 4th in Greco-Roman and 5th in Freestyle.
