Southeastern Grocers to File Bankruptcy, Closing Nearly 100 Stores

Several Georgia Winn-Dixie stores will be closing soon. Owned by Southeastern Grocers, the company revealed bankruptcy plans yesterday. Hopeful to reduce debt, 94 Winn-Dixie stores will be shutting down nationally, with 19 of those being within Georiga. Locally, a Winn-Dixie in Waycross is the only one on the chopping block.

In a press release, company president and chief executive officer, Anthony Hucker, shared the following: “This course of action enables us to continue writing the story for our company and our iconic, heritage banners in the Southeast.”
