The first phase of DRIVES was completed in May 2019 and replaced the Title and Registration System utilized by DOR and the 159 County Tax Commissioners and their Tag Offices.
DRIVES Phase 2 is more than halfway complete and will replace the State Driver’s Licensing System which has been utilized since the 1990s. DDS is on schedule to launch on January 18, 2021.
“When designing any new process, DDS strives to balance the vital need for modernization with enhancing the protection of customer information while remaining customer service focused,” said DDS Commissioner Spencer R. Moore.
Fast Enterprises, LLC was awarded the State-bid project and has a proven track record of on-time and on-budget delivery, completing projects both in Georgia and for motor vehicle entities across the nation.
“I applaud the DDS Team and our business partner FAST Enterprises for continuing to stay the course. There have been many unforeseen hurdles during the COVID-19 Emergency, and the group has remained committed to this project without question,” Commissioner Moore added.
As DDS joins DRIVES, it will ensure that there is consistent customer data and improve the accuracy of driver information between the two agencies that support driver functions. For customers, the Georgia DRIVES system will enable more self-service options, improve customer service, and enhance data integrity. The driver examiners will have upgraded equipment and technology improving customer service.
