The Georgia Department of Transportation (Georgia DOT) awarded a total of 10 projects in December 2023 including resurfacing, widening and reconstruction, and bridge construction.
The largest single investment, valued at approximately $62 million, is a reconstruction project covering 3.049 miles of widening and reconstruction for turn lanes and operational improvements on SR 9 from Windward Parkway to the Forsyth County line in Fulton County. Three percent of the awarded funds were for two safety projects valued at approximately $3.7 million. One safety project focuses on enhancing intersections at various locations on SR 140 (Holcomb Bridge Road) and Spalding Drive (CR 1955) in Fulton and Gwinnett counties. The second safety project includes pavement marking upgrades on 14.450 miles of I-75/SR 401 from south of SR 159 to north of Old Hatley Road in Crisp and Turner counties.
