Rep. Soo Hong Applauds Signing of Legislation Granting More than $1 Billion in Tax Cuts

State Representative Soo Hong (R-Lawrenceville), who serves as a Governor’s Floor Leader, yesterday joined Governor Brian Kemp for the signing of House Bill 111, a measure that provides tax relief to working Georgians starting this year.

“I’m grateful to Governor Kemp for signing HB 111 into law and proud of the work the Georgia General Assembly has done to deliver real, lasting tax relief for Georgians,” said Rep. Hong. “This legislation reflects our continued commitment to easing the burden on Georgia families and small businesses across the state. I especially want to thank my colleagues in the House for their support and partnership in advancing this much-needed legislation to the governor’s desk. At the end of the day, this money belongs back in the pockets of Georgians—not sitting in a government account.”

Effective as of January 1, 2025, HB 111 lowers the income tax rate to 5.19 percent, a total reduction of 56 basis points from the original rate of 5.75 percent, and returns another $880 million to Georgia families next year. HB 111 builds on the foundation laid by House Bill 1437, which was signed into law in 2022 and represents the largest state income tax cut in Georgia’s history.
