Jekyll Island’s Sea Turtle Center offering ‘Science Saturday’

3/8/2018

This Saturday, pack up the kids and head over to the Georgia Sea Turtle Center on Jekyll Island for a fun and educational program. The weekly ‘Science Saturday’ offers a variety of turtle-themed topics.

This day’s theme is ‘Marsh-Madness’, with the topic: Science of the Marsh Habitat. This weekly program is open to kids of all ages, and runs from 10:00 a.m. until 4:00 p.m.

According to the center’s website, the purpose of these classes is to: allow families to learn together while exploring the center. Each event will cover a predefined sea turtle or general turtle-related topic.

The class is included with a general admission ticket. For those that homeschool, this would be a good addition to the weekly course schedule. To sign up for the center’s homeschool newsletter, click here.

Tickets can be purchased the day of the event, and reservations aren’t required.

Tickets are $8.00 for those 13 and older, children 4-12 are $6.00, and kids three and under are free. Those 12 and under must be accompanied by an adult.

The Sea Turtle Center’s hours are 9:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. and they are open year-round, excluding Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve and Christmas Day, along with New Year’s Day.
