The Albert and Esther Thomson Scholarship Trust was established in the early 2000s by Esther Thomson to assist students in technical education.

The Albert and Esther Thomson Scholarship Trust was established in the early 2000s by Esther Thomson to assist students in technical education. The late Mrs. Dale James was entrusted with the Scholarship Trust after the passing of her Aunt, Mrs. Thomson. Over the years, Mrs. Dale James assisted in awarding thousands of scholarship dollars to students in the pursuit of higher education. Mr. Don James, husband to the late Mrs. James, is the current trustee of the Albert and Esther Thomson Scholarship Trust. In honoring his late wife’s legacy of service to the education field, Mr. James is giving a scholarship endowment to the Coastal Pines Technical College (CPTC) Foundation. Scholarships will be allocated to students pursuing certificates, diplomas and degrees at Coastal Pines Technical College.

Mrs. Dale James was a fierce advocate for the education system. Mrs. James graduated from the University of Georgia and came home to be an educator in the Waycross City School system. Throughout her career, she assumed numerous roles within the school system and retired as a member of the National Education Association, the Georgia Association of Educators, and the Waycross-Ware County Association of Retired Teachers. The family of Mrs. James hopes that this endowment will go to students who need financial assistance to complete their education and enter the workforce.

“I would like to thank Don James for his role in establishing this scholarship endowment for technical education. These scholarship funds will provide much needed assistance to Coastal Pines Technical College students who need help with their educational needs” stated Dr. Glenn Deibert, President of Coastal Pines Technical College.

Since its inception, the Foundation has awarded thousands of dollars in scholarships and grants to assist students in pursuit of higher education. CPTC graduates contribute to a pool of highly qualified workers that attract new industry and sustain existing workforce needs.
