On a hot, but pleasant afternoon at State Mutual Stadium Wednesday, Kolby Allard picked up his first win as a Rome Brave in dominating fashion in a 3-1 victory over Lexington.
Allard struck out 11 batters in 6.1 innings of work, giving up one run on three hits with only one walk.
Chase Johnson-Mullins pitched 2.2 innings of scoreless relief, picking up his first save of the year. Johnson earned his save the hard way, pitching out of a bases-loaded jam to end the game in the top of the ninth.
The Braves picked up 10 hits on the day, moving three across for the win. Justin Ellison and Lucas Herbert each had multi-hit games with two apiece in four at-bats. Rome’s RBIs came from the bats of Carlos Castro, Tyler Neslony, and Kevin Josephina at one each.
