Former Calhoun High School standout Adam Griffith was all the Crimson Tide needed to earn their way to the Georgia Dome next week for the Southeastern Conference title game.
It certainly isn’t Griffith’s first trip to the Georgia Dome, kicking the game winning field goal for Calhoun High School in the 2011 state championship game. He’s also had his fair share of big games in the Dome at the collegiate level as well.
Auburn’s entire team managed 13 points in the 2015 Iron Bowl at home, while former Yellow Jacket accounted for 17 for Alabama with his foot alone.
Griffith’s teammate Derrick Henry was no slouch either, making much of the team’s field position possible with 271 rushing yards and a touchdown. ArDarius Stewart also had six points of his own with catch for a touchdown, but it was Gordon County’s transplant native who kicked his team’s way to Atlanta, and kept Nick Saban’s hopes for a top four playoff berth alive.
Adam Griffith was five for five on field goals on the day, with a long kick of 50 yards. He was also two for two on extra points in the Iron Bowl win.
Griffith and the Crimson Tide (11-1) will face the Florida Gators in Atlanta for the SEC title on Saturday, December 4.
