After a solid six inning start from Mike Soroka, the Rome Braves just couldn’t keep Columbia’s bats quiet, losing to the Fireflies 9-3 Wednesday night at State Mutual.
Columbia outhit Rome 15-8, but Rome was still in the game late until a five-run eighth by the Fireflies put the game away.
Seven of those hits came on Soroka’s watch, but he managed to minimize the damage, only allowing two runs in six innings, giving up only one walk, and racking up five strikeouts.
