Late comeback falls short as Rome loses 4-3 to Columbia
In a game that started as a pitcher’s duel, It was the offenses for Rome and Columbia Wednesday night that would battle into the late innings. The Braves rallied late, but couldn’t catch up with the Fireflies, losing 4-3. A nice outing for Rome’s Patrick Weigel just wasn’t enough to out duel Columbia’s Chase Ingram. After Weigel held the Fireflies scoreless through five, Columbia got three runs – one earned – in the sixth, then another off Adam McCreery in the eighth.
