After a loss on Saturday to Augusta, the Rome Braves took a 1.5 game South Atlantic League Southern Division lead into into Sunday’s head-to-head matchup with the GreenJackets.
In the end, the Braves fell 5-3 to the GreenJackets, and fell to a half game lead in the SAL-Southern.
Starter Max Fried went six roller coaster innings, giving up five runs – three earned – on four hits. He struck out 10, and only walked two.
Withrow threw a scoreless inning of relief in the seventh, striking out the side. Johnson-Mullins pitched a scoreless eighth, then returned for a scoreless ninth.
Rome got two RBI’s from Austin Riley, and another from Lucas Herbert who went 3-for-4 with a run. Salazar and Yepez also had multi-hit days with two apiece.
