Rome Braves Reports
The 2017 Rome Braves field staff has been announced and Randy Ingle returns as the team’s manager. Ingle, in his 26th season as a manager, was Rome skipper last season which won the South Atlantic League Championship, the second in team history. The team was also named Baseball America’s Team of the Year.
Prior to coming to Rome in 2006, Ingle managed the Myrtle Beach Pelicans for four seasons, managed in Macon for one year (2001) and in Richmond for two years (1999-2000). Ingle has twice been named the organization’s Manager of the Year (1996, ’97) as well as the recipient of the Bobby Cox Manager of the Year Award in 2011. Ingle is a member of the South Atlantic League Hall of Fame and the Appalachian State Hall of Fame.
Also returning to the Rome staff is hitting coach Bobby Moore, who will serve his fifth consecutive season with the team and his 19th with the Braves’ farm system. Dan Meyer will return as pitching coach for the second year and Nick Jensen joins the Rome club as trainer from the Gulf Coast League Braves, where he spent the 2016 year, his first in the organization.
Rome opens the 2017 campaign on the road with a trip to West Virginia and Kannapolis before opening at home on April 13th against the Charleston Riverdogs. New season ticket plans are now on sale and make great holiday stocking stuffers.
