Indian defensive leader, Lane Leblanc, is inspiring his teammates, his community and his country.

The Chattooga Indians knocked off North Murray last week and nearly shut the Mountaineers out.  The Indian defense stymied the Mountaineers for most of the game and was led by senior, Lane Leblanc. As a linebacker and special teams standout, Leblanc has a nose for the ball and led the team in total tackles in spite of his 5’7” 146lb frame.  Leblanc says he plays with heart and Indians Head Coach, Charles Hammon says Leblanc’s heart “is a whole lot bigger than his body”.

But Leblanc’s penchant for defense extends far beyond the football field. During the summer of 2015, Leblanc enlisted in the United States Army National Guard. Following a lifelong dream of becoming a soldier, Leblanc travels to the 180^th National Guard Company based in Rome, Georgia one weekend in each month to work on basic military skills like weapons training and Army history. Eleven days after the 2016 graduation, Lane the football player will become Private Leblanc… the soldier.

For week 2 of his senior year’s football season, Lane Leblanc is the All On Georgia MVP.  Coach Hammon went on to say that Leblanc reminds him a lot of himself. His love of horses and his family and his loyalty to his friends and teammates makes him stand out while, for the most part, Lane tends to “fly under the radar.” On his current field of “battle”, Leblanc’s opponents would disagree.
