Insurance and Safety Fire Commissioner

Insurance and Safety Fire Commissioner John F. King announced today that a Walker County Fire was intentionally set. The fire occurred at approximately 3:27 a.m. on Sunday, September 19, on Ivy Street in Rossville. The fire heavily damaged the 89-year-old, 928-square-foot residence.

“The fire originated on the front exterior wall of the residence,” said Commissioner King. “The structure was vacant and undergoing renovation at the time of the fire. Anyone with information about this Walker County fire is invited to call my Fire Investigations Unit at 1-800-282-5804.

Commissioner King’s Fire Investigations Unit is assisting the Walker County Fire Department with this investigation. In coordination with the State Fire Investigations Unit, a reward of up to $10,000 is offered by Georgia Arson Control for information that leads to the arrest and conviction of those responsible for arson.
